Solid Wood Sculptural pieces by Chris Mroz. Only several are made each year. All pieces are made using Mroz's Extreme Wood Bending techniques with solid hardwood. Each piece is signed and dated by Mroz. Each piece is unique and impossible to replicate.

Maple Bowl, 14" x 5.5". Bent from solid hardwood over 1" thick, then turned on a lathe. Inspired by solid snare drum shells built exclusivly for Drum Workshop, Mroz developed this Maple bowl as an accent piece that is sought out by professional drummers, but also by collectors and galleries. Available in many species and finishes. Shown in Sugar Maple. Glass ornaments are props for the pictures and are not included. Other species include Cherry, Walnut, and mixes of Maple with Cherry, Walnut, Black Locust, and other species that may be requested.

Large solid Hard Maple sphere reminiscent of an Armillary Sphere. 13" in diameter. This art piece is actually a piece of functional art. It is also a puzzle. The six pieces are interlocked and can be easily taken apart and put back together (after just a little practice). Put it on a table as a conversation piece, and your guests will find it irresistable to pick up. Of course it is going to fall apart in their hands, resulting in perhaps a little embarasment, followed by a good natured challenge to reassemble it. Bent and lathe turned. Commissions to make larger spheres will be considered. Diameters of up to 48" and wood dimensions of 2" thick x 6" wide will make an astonishing sculptural piece.
Solid Wood Sculpture. 1 1/8" thick x 6" x 96" plank, bent using Extreme Wood Bending techniques. About 26" wide x 30" tall. Clock face is optional and is two sided with a thermometer on the back. Mroz Design. Fluted Beams LLC.

Cherry Spiral, 16" x 45", Chris Mroz originally designed this piece as a demonstration of his techniques in Extreme Wood Bending and it has become a sculptural art piece available in many species and sizes. Shown in 1" thick x 4.5" solid Cherry, though most are 1 1/8" thick x 5.5" wide. The planks are 8 feet long. They reside in numerous collections, notably in New York, Los Angeles, Germany and Japan.
