Studio Furniture  (double click on images for description)

The unusual studio furniture of Chris Mroz results from years of trial and error with new building techniques utilizing his proprietary and patent pending Extreme Wood Bending™ methods. These pieces are often prototypes for other applications, but have become fine furnishings on their own. The concrete table top is a prototype for the use of inlayed compressed wood in formed concrete medallions, floors, table tops and counters. The octagonal side table is a short section of a structural column, first built in 24" lengths with a web of serpentine compressed wood between the flanges. The larger center table illustrates Boat Building techniques in every aspect of this piece and a new approach to grid-shell construction. These works are available for purchase. Occasionally, a piece like this makes its way into a charity auction. These pieces can be expected to increase in value as rare art works. Contact chris@flutedbeams.com to enquire about comissioning a custom work.

Also available from Fluted Beams is bendable hardwood (Compressed Wood) for your own bending operations, unusual Inlayed Veneers for your studio furniture applications and bent parts for production manufacturers.
