Pure Timber LLC creates curved wood ceilings, walls and panels using several different methods: Cold Molding, Curved Cross-Linked Timber panels, woven wall panels, and bent sculptural architectural treatments. These structural and non-structural radiused walls, supports, building envelopes, screens and trellises are fabricated for the residential, commercial and hospitality industries. These may be constructed with multiple species and patterns to create unique architectural elements. There are no restrictions on size except on shipping. Large fabrications such as the one shown at right for Goldman Sachs in NY was panelized and assembled on site.
Prices vary from $75/sq ft, to over $200/sq ft. Pricing is also affected by species, thickness, structural needs, pattern complexity and frame or fixture fabrications.
Species available include White Ash, White Oak, Red Oak, American Beech, Hard Maple, Cherry and Walnut.
Unique woven and bentwood panels, screens and railings are manufactured at Fluted Beams LLC, but you can also order the Compressed Hardwood and create your own. The appearance is of hardwood in motion, which is unexpected for solid hardwoods. These products are bent from thick solid hardwood into custom sized panels. Originally designed as prototypes for grid-shell buildings and large scale architectural trellises, these panels may be used in smaller scale as chair seats and backs, as furniture details, as stair and balcony railings and as room dividers and screens.
Wood sizes can vary, but we recommend ¼" to 1/2" thickness x 1" to 6" width to show off the thick hardwoods. The strips may be tightly packed to further emphasize the dramatic curve possible in these hardwood slats. They can also be more loosely packed, which also allows for more thickness (up to 1 3/4" thick). We can also vary the strip sizes and species to create unique patterns or to produce rectangular or circular spaces rather than squares.
